If walking makes you hungry, these fried chicken-scented Crocs will tide you over until your next meal.
While it may seem like an odd couple, KFC x Crocs is a match made in heaven. Reflecting the brands’ shared sense of humor, this collaboration lets customers embrace their quirky-casual tastes in both fashion and food.
These co-branded crocs include KFC's iconic red and white stripe bucket pattern on the sides and an impressively lifelike fried chicken print on the tops. They also come with fried chicken jibbitz that look and smell like real fried chicken.
This collaboration was an attempt by both brands to reach a younger audience. In 2020, KFC was pretty much irrelevant to this group, only making an appearance in the occasional meme. Likewise, Crocs was at the beginning of their collaboration streak that would soon let them rise through the ranks and become ‘cool’ again.
Partnering up allowed both brands to reinvent their identities and fully embrace the fun, kitchy aesthetic that appeals to GenZ. It also gave them an opportunity to provide customers with a new sensory experience that no one could have predicted.
Imagine the Croc brand trying to manufacture a chicken aroma without the help of KFC, or KFC attempting to make footwear as a food industry business. Can you say rubbery chicken or flaky shoes?
This collaboration let both brands do what they do best. Seeing as the chicken-themed clogs sold out within 30 minutes, it’s safe to say the brands’ authenticity resonated with their target audience.
