Alo Yoga x Tropic of C

If we had to guess how a supermodel spends a summer day, we’d probably say something like this: waking up to an Instagram-worthy smoothie bowl, doing some fancy yoga, and lounging in a swimsuit until dusk.

We may be way off, but that’s exactly what the Alo Yoga X Tropic of C collaboration feels like, and it’s aspirational, indeed. From crochet bikini tops to Baywatch red one pieces, this collection offers every style you need to feel like a supermodel on and off the beach.

Of course, the brands couldn’t have created this feeling without a supermodel‘s input. Tropic of C is the sustainable swimwear brand owned by Candice Swanepoel. As the first South African model to walk the runway at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, Candice knows which styles make you feel confident in your own skin.

But Candice is more than a model — she’s also a philanthropist who advocates for women’s rights and environmental justice. Accordingly, her swimwear brand is known for prioritizing ethical and sustainable operations on all fronts.

Candice brought her mission to this collaboration with Alo Yoga. All of the garments are made with eco-friendly materials, and the crochet tops are made by hand by Quechua and Mochica women across northern Peru. This type of crochet (ubuntu) is a traditional art form that has been passed down for generations among women. The collection not only highlights their work, but also helps them provide for themselves and their communities.

This collaboration is a great example of how to make use of a partner’s strengths. Alo Yoga, though praised for their high-quality activewear, doesn’t have the greatest reputation when it comes to their sourcing and manufacturing practices.

Partnering with Tropic of C allows Alo to take part in the movement toward ethical and sustainable clothing. This is especially important as consumers care more and more about how their clothes are made and what impact it has on people and the planet.

However, Alo Yoga excels in generating inspiration for a mindful lifestyle— just buying one pair of Alo Yoga pants will motivate you to start a whole new mindful movement routine. This strength is highlighted in the collaboration’s campaign, with Candice modeling the garments in yoga poses.

This collaboration allowed both brands to share a mindful message about the origin of one’s clothing. As a result, the brands reached their shared audience of women who want to lead a more conscious and connected (but still hot girl) summer.
